“The secret of happiness is in your power to sacrifice and uplift others. Happiness is in giving, not in taking. God will give to you. Trust in the fact! Happiness is our birthright. There is no argument about it. Give your mind a chance.”
In a world where many people believe that happiness comes from satisfying their own desires, the 3HO way of life teaches something very different. We are happiest when we can uplift another person, or uplift a difficult situation, even if it costs us something. This compassionate, serviceful view of life comes when we, ourselves, overflow with trust in our own relationship to the Infinite.
Kundalini Yoga offers many deep and profound meditations to develop human sensitivity and human vastness. In opening the higher centers, we begin to experience our lives as part of an endless giving cycle. We give to others. The Infinite gives to us. There is no lack, no fear and no reaction. Happiness comes from being in that flow.
In the 3HO lifestyle, there are specific steps to happiness. Each step builds on the next. Happiness is the crowning result of developing our consciousness and personality. When we enter the state of happiness, then we are capable of living for each other.
The Seven Steps to Happiness
The first step is commitment. In every life you are meant to commit. That is why the word is commit-meant. Commitment gives you CHARACTER.
Character is when all your characteristics—all facets, flaws, and facts—are under your control. Yin and yang meet there, totally balanced. Character gives you DIGNITY.
People start trusting you, liking you, respecting you. Dignity will give you DIVINITY.
What is Divinity? Divinity is when people have no duality about you. They trust you right away. They have no fear about you. Divinity gives you GRACE.
Where there is grace, there is no interference, no gap between two people, no hidden agenda. Grace gives you the power to SACRIFICE.
Power to Sacrifice
You can stand any pain for that person. That sacrifice gives you HAPPINESS.
“Commitment—the power to succeed when you are powerless. Character—you cannot be shaken. Dignity—do not hesitate to do what you have to do for somebody. Divinity— nothing can touch you. Grace— stand any disgrace with grace. Power to sacrifice—know you own nothing, that everything is of God, and give to whomsoever has the need. Happiness —do something for no self-gain. A few breaths of life through you can uplift something for a moment. “I” has only one meaning—that you can do something for somebody. When “I” is for yourself you have wasted your life.”
