“The Cosmos works for those who have discipline, who have longing, who have some goal to reach in their lives, and who make a constant, constant, constant effort to reach it. That is dharma. Dharma is in every day, in every action, on every side of the day.”
-Yogi Bhajan, 2/9/03
The Law of Karma: for every action there is a reaction. There is no action without a reaction or effect or consequence.
Rather than seeing karma as a punishment for ‘bad’ actions, we can view it as the gateway to dharma. Dharma is mindful living, living your life intentionally.
Living consciously applies to the decisions we make in every aspect of life—what to eat, how to dress, how we communicate, working, raising children, etc. Dharma is externally applied yoga—the way you live your life and how you interact with the world.
The key to living above the wheel of karma is to develop the ability to understand the consequences of our actions before we take them. Instead of reacting to the results or effects or consequences of our past actions, we take actions aligned with our soul and destiny, where our actions don’t create more karma. We can learn to do this by developing our intuition and meditative mind.
Where there is dharma there is no karma.
